October 24, 2010:
In the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ; Greetings brothers and sisters.
As I start this first installment of Notes from the Road, I can't help asking myself, "Am I taking on more than I can handle?"
But then I have to listen to my own words in answer. Words that I've said time and time again. "God doesn't give you more
than you can handle." You may think you can't do any more, but God knows you better than you know yourself. After
all He made you, and He knows just how strong you actually are. It's just that sometimes He has to give us a little extra to
prove it to ourselves.
These "notes" aren't going to follow any set topic or particular subject. It's going
to be more like a rambling discourse or random thoughts and observations about this wonderful world God has given us as seen through
the windshield of a truck. My one prayer is that during my ramblings I can show others just how wonderful our God is.
And how much He loves us to make such a beautiful, awesome place for us to live in and enjoy.
I never get tired
of traveling around this glorious country He has seen fit to give me the privilege of living in, to see the beauty he has seen fit
to grant us for our enjoyment. I remember the first time I ever saw the Rocky Mountains; their breath taking majesty rising
in front of me as I got closer to them, or the quiet desolation of the Arizona desert at night under a full moon; the stars like a
blanket laid across the sky to comfort me and let me know that no matter what is going on in my life, there is someone greater than
me or my problems. Someone who is always there to talk to, tell my troubles to. Someone who cares about me for who I am,
His creation, His child.
I don't have to prove anything to Him. I don't have to try to impress him, because
He already knows my heart, my innermost secret dreams. I don't have to try to be anytrhing other than what and who I am, His
child, Tom.
I had best stop here or else this will become a novel instead of an article for a website. I still
have lots of things to write about, such as the awesome beauty of His creation, His total, endless, unconditional love for us. I pray I haven't bored anyone with my ramblings, and that as we go on this journey together God will bless me with some wisdom, love
and yes, even a little humor to share with you all.
If anyone has any comments or suggestions I would be happy to
hear from you. You may email me at tevanssr@gmail.com (all lower case) or feel free to call me at 417-849-5844 anytime day or
night. My schedule varies almost daily so you never know when I'm going to be awake. If there is no answer, just leave
me a message and what time would be best to reach you, and I will do my best to return your call.
Until our next
meeting, I will be hoping to see you on the road and will be praying for everyone.
Wishing Christ's blessings on each one
of you.
I am faithfully,
Brother Tom
